下一章 · 12make it a monster把某事妖魔化這場戲：警察制止後約明天見面lump 是「把……堆在一起」，lump together 就是「把不同的人或事歸成一類」。臺詞裡說不想把你我歸到一塊兒，就是嫌這樣分類不對勁，等於在貶低自己。
open up 是「開啟心扉、把心裡話講出來」，open up to someone 就是「對某人敞開心扉」。臺詞裡說我對你敞開心扉，你卻評判我，指的就是信任被辜負。
hope to God。God 在這裡表示語氣很重，hope to God 就是「真心但願、千萬求求」。臺詞裡說 hope to God she didn't tell Nikki，就是「但願她沒告訴妮基」。
conform 是「遵從、隨大流」，conformist 就是「隨大流的人、循規蹈矩的人」。臺詞裡把它當成罵人的話，意思是對方活得沒有自我，只會跟著別人走。
back off。back off 本義是「後退、退開」，吵架時用來讓人「別靠近、別逼我」，語氣很強硬。臺詞裡說 Back off, all right，就是「退後，行嗎」。
