God forbid。父親那句 God forbid I should have a piece of meat 是句反話，意思是「難不成我配吃塊肉」，表面求別發生，其實在諷刺。
意思是「咬一口」，take a big bite 就是「咬一大口」。招呼人吃東西可以說 Go ahead, take a bite；勸人多吃點也能說 Take a bigger bite。
意思是「靠……吃個飽」。臺詞裡 let him fill up on the bread 就是「讓他光吃麵包吃飽算了」，帶點嫌棄，指拿便宜管飽的東西把人打發。
go ahead。母親招呼兒媳下筷時說 Go ahead, honey，就是「來吧，親愛的」。別人猶豫要不要做某事時，用 go ahead 表示同意、讓對方放手去做。
意思是「愛上了某人」。臺詞裡 I fell in love with him the first time I met him 就是「第一次見到他就愛上他了」，強調一見鍾情的瞬間。
