有人上門來催歌劇的稿子，屋裡的人先把桌上的安魂曲蓋起來，一遍遍說 He's not here（他不在）、he's working on it（他在趕）。可來人偏要翻稿子，一句 What's this? A Requiem Mass?（這是什麼？一部安魂彌撒？）把氣氛點炸。想學怎麼應付催進度、怎麼把不想讓人看的活兒藏起來，這幾句句句能用。

有人上門來催莫札特的歌劇稿，屋裡的人先敷衍：He's not here（他不在），還補一句 he's working on it（他在趕）。來人卻翻到桌上的樂譜，懷疑地問 What's this? A Requiem Mass?（這是什麼？一部安魂彌撒？），屋主趕緊擋回去：Leave that alone（別碰那個）。爭執升級後，劇本被罵得一文不值，有人只回一句 Money. Money.（錢，錢）。working on it 是「在做、還沒弄完」，催進度、交差前都能用；in the funeral business 是「幹殯葬這行的」；in my noodle 是口語裡的「在腦子裡」，說稿子還沒落到紙上時很好用。
A1–C2 是歐標等級。點一個等級後，比它高的卡片會變淡，播放到那裡不會自動暫停。
“It's all right here in my noodle. The rest is just scribbling.”
全在這兒呢，在我腦子裡。剩下的不過是塗塗畫畫。
把天才的傲慢說成一句輕描淡寫：譜子都在腦子裡。

自問自答的頂嘴句，把對方的指責原樣彈回去，節奏乾脆。

反駁別人的指責、反將一軍時用；熟人鬥嘴裡很常見。

口語
ridiculous 重讀，libretto 咬清三音節。
You know what's ridiculous? Your excuse! 你知道什麼才可笑嗎？你的藉口！
“I'm frightened. I'm very,very frightened!”
我害怕。我非常非常害怕！
重複被 very,very 撐開，把僕人的恐懼一層層加上去。
I'm very, very (adjective)!
想把程度說足、又不顯得文縐縐時用，口語裡很自然。
I'm really, really scared. ／ I'm very, very worried.
中性
兩個 very 中間略頓，frightened 重音在前。
I'm very, very nervous about this test. 這次考試我特別特別緊張。
“He sits there all the time,doing some silly opera.”
他整天就坐在這兒，寫些傻乎乎的什麼歌劇。
all the time 配 silly opera，僕人的輕蔑和擔憂都出來了。
he sits there all the time
形容某人整天埋頭做一件你看不上或看不懂的事時用。
She's on that phone all the time. ／ He just sits there all day, tinkering.
口語
all the time 連讀，opera 重讀。
He sits there all the time, doing some silly game. 他整天坐那兒打些傻乎乎的遊戲。
“Because there's nothing to see.”
因為沒什麼可看的。
一句輕飄飄的回答，把催稿人所有的期待當場按滅。
Because there's nothing to ...
被追問東西在哪、又不想多解釋時用；乾脆又有點賴。
Because there's nothing to show. ／ There's simply nothing in it.
中性
because 輕出，nothing to see 帶過。
Because there's nothing to show, honestly. 因為真的沒什麼可看的。

to hell with。後面直接接你不想要的東西，比如 to hell with your death Mass 就是「去你的死亡彌撒」。語氣很重，別在正式場合用。
doing his best 或 doing your best。幫別人說話時常用，比如他已經盡力了就說 he's doing his best，等於替他求情，讓人別太苛責。
意思是「在做、在趕、還沒弄完」，用來回應別人催進度。這裡屋裡的人替莫札特擋客，說 he's working on it，等於「他正在寫，別催」。
字面是「幹殯葬這行的」，這裡是為了打發翻到安魂曲的人，故意說自己又不是做喪事生意的，好把稿子從對方手裡拿回來。
