眾人在風沃宅圍著玻璃杯降神，每人放一根手指。斯特拉追問母親是不是不想她離開，杯子給出「I guard.（我守護）」，她卻忽然進入 trance（恍惚），用西班牙語喊著警告，屋裡還飄起含羞草香。想學怎麼描述靈異場面、怎麼試探著問出心裡話，這幾句都夠用。

從怯怯發問到步步緊逼，最後吐出一個名字，節奏越收越緊。
一句「She's in a trance」（她進入恍惚狀態）

風沃宅裡做起了降神會：每人把手指 put a finger on（按在）玻璃杯上，斯特拉負責發問。她問「Is anybody here?（有人在這兒嗎？）」「Are you my mother?（你是我母親嗎？）」，杯子答出 I guard（我守護），還拼出卡梅爾。可她的聲音漸漸不像自己，整個人陷入 trance（恍惚），用西班牙語大喊「別信她」。屋裡忽然飄滿含羞草香，溫度驟降，蠟燭亂晃。醫生想 reach her mind（觸及她的意識），裡克卻攔住大家，說 Don't move until she's over the worst of this（在她熬過最難的一關前，誰都別動）。想學靈異對話、安撫勸人、描述詭異氣氛，這些說法很有用。

over the worst of。臺詞裡說 Don't move until she's over the worst of this，就是「在她熬過最難的一關之前，誰都別動」。worst 指最糟、最難的一段。
reach her mind。臺詞裡醫生提議 It may be best to try and reach her mind，就是「也許最好試著跟她的意識溝通」，用在對恍惚中的人說話。
reassuring 是讓人安心的。臺詞裡說 keep your voice quiet and reassuring，就是「把聲音放輕、穩住她」，安慰驚慌的人時很常用。
guard someone from。臺詞裡問 you guard me from some danger，就是「你守護我，不讓我遇到危險」。guard 後面接 from 表示擋住什麼。
斯特拉陷入恍惚說起西班牙語，屋裡突然飄滿含羞草香、氣溫驟降、蠟燭亂晃，裡克還看到有東西朝他們過來。怪事一件接一件，誰也解釋不了。
