下一章 · 17tear someone apart讓人心碎這場戲：勸她離開卻被拒絕形容氣味、味道或情緒強到讓人受不了，中文常說「濃得嗆人、太沖了」。這裡說的是屋裡的含羞草香，濃得沒法忽略，比 strong 更帶壓迫感。
miss one's cue。cue 是演員該出場的那句提示，miss 是沒抓住，合起來就是輪到自己卻錯過了該動的時機，也常用在工作、社交裡。
就是夜裡點著的小燈，為孩子或怕黑的人留一點光。臺詞裡那點微光像小夜燈，其實是鬼魂出現的前兆。
意思是「跟……毫無關係」，用來撇清關聯，比如一件事不是某人造成的。劇中斯特拉堅信母親的到來跟她昨晚生病沒有關係。
take someone home 和 drive someone home 都行，前者偏「陪某人回去」，後者特指開車送。劇裡先說我 take you home，後來又改口讓 Dr. Scott 開車送。
