斯特拉當著外公的面宣佈要 make friends with（跟某人交朋友）菲茨傑拉德兄妹，外公一句 do no such thing（休想）堵回去，她乾脆回敬說自己 on strike（撂挑子不幹了）。她還想通了，不該再替別人而活。想學怎麼把拒絕和頂撞說得又禮貌又硬氣，這幾句很好用。

意思是「休想、絕對不行」，很硬地回絕對方。比如 You'll do no such thing（你想都別想），語氣比 just don't 強得多。
make friends with someone。注意 friends 要用複數，比如 I've decided to make friends with them（我決定跟他們交朋友）。
意思是「惡意、邪念」，是比 evil 更正式、更書面的詞。電影裡說 a house can be filled with malignity，就是「一所房子充滿惡意」。
