將軍正泡在蒸汽室裡，一隊年輕軍官衝進來把他當俘虜抓了。這本來是 Army exercise（軍事演習），只是有人提前動手，連 show me the way（帶路）的兵都省了。將軍抗議：starts at midnight（午夜開戰），憑什麼在宣戰前抓人？對方回一句 on what authority（憑什麼權力），還講一句 keep to the rules（守規矩），敵人卻一直踹我們。將軍要 Put 'em up（動手），對方卻回一句 my foot（才怪）。my foot 是「才怪、去你的」，用來否定對方；beg your pardon 是沒聽清或不悅時說的「您說什麼」；no time to waste 是沒工夫耽擱。看英式軍人的對嗆，這幾句最典型。
