cop-out找藉口

用一句平淡敘述交代一家人的喘息，越平靜越襯後面的失控。

X was gone, but things were almost normal again.

敘述一段好不容易平靜下來的日子時用；正式報告裡別這麼口語。

He had left, yet life was nearly back on track. ／ Things were almost normal again after he went.

中性

was gone 輕讀，almost normal 稍重，句尾放平。

The boxes were gone, but things were almost normal again. 箱子都清走了，日子又幾乎恢復正常。

先用一句否定定性，再甩出反問，逼對方解釋自己的邏輯。

That's stupid, though. Why ...?

當面質疑一個說不通的舉動時用；對長輩或客人這樣說太重。

That makes no sense. Why wreck your own block? ／ That's just dumb — why burn where you live?

口語

That's stupid 稍重，though 輕帶，Why 上揚。

That's stupid, though. Why cancel the trip now? 可這說不通。幹嘛現在取消行程？

一個 cop-out 先定性，再補一句更狠的判斷，反駁得像判詞。

That's such a cop-out — it's ... at its worst.

當面戳穿對方在開脫時用；工作正式彙報裡別用 cop-out。

That's a total dodge. It's opportunism, plain and simple. ／ What a cop-out. That's the worst kind of excuse.

口語

cop-out 重讀，opportunism 放慢，at its worst 收重。

That's such a cop-out. It's laziness dressed up as policy. 這純粹是找藉口。是把懶惰包裝成政策。

命令句加一句不耐煩的感嘆，把情緒和證據一起摔上桌。

要對方別空談、看事即時用；正式場合的 for Christ's sake 會冒犯人。

statistics 重讀，for Christ's sake 壓低聲快速帶過。

Look at the statistics, for Christ's sake — sales are down. 看在老天份上，看看資料吧，銷量在跌。

用對仗拆穿對方的換詞術，再一錘定音，節奏乾脆。

It's not A, it's B. That's just nonsense.

要揭穿換概念、把話說死時用；討論中給對方留餘地就別這麼衝。

Call it poverty if you like — it's still a crime. ／ Not an excuse, just a word game.

兩個 it's 平行，nonsense 重讀收尾。
