What happens
Jack Horner brings out his bottomless bag of magic weapons, confident they will get him the wish. The creature he expects to be a magic locust turns out to be his conscience instead. Later, Kitty rejects trust outright and lists every time she was betrayed, while Puss's fake beard becomes the joke that ends the scene.

What's really going on
The scene is about walls, comic and real. Jack's wall is stuff: weapons, gadgets, an endless bag, and he is proud of it. When his magic locust turns out to be a conscience, the joke is that even he cannot buy his way out of being judged. Kitty's wall is harder. She explains it in one long, bitter line — "Whenever I've let my guard down, I've been double-crossed, declawed, played and betrayed" — and draws the lesson, "never trust anyone." It is a defense built from experience, not vanity. The scene ends by puncturing it: she teases Puss's fake beard until he begs to have it torn off. The same person who says trust is impossible is quietly taking care of him.
