陪審團圍桌逐一輪流說理由。第一個發言的人憋了半天，只說 I just think he's guilty（我就是覺得他有罪）。爭執裡有人質問對方是不是 born with a monopoly on the truth（獨佔真理），也有人強調 the burden of proof's on the prosecution（舉證責任在控方）。想學辯論講理的英語，這幾句最硬。

from the word go，意思就是「打從一開始」。有人說這案子 obvious from the word go，就是他上來就認定有罪。
形容布料時才指「薄」，形容說法、證據、藉口時是「站不住腳、經不起推敲」。臺詞說 the boy's entire story was flimsy，就是這個意思。
字面是「對真理的壟斷」，用來懟自以為掌握全部真相的人：Do you think you were born with a monopoly on the truth? 就是「你以為真理都讓你一個人佔了？」
「不帶個人情緒、沒有私人感情摻和」。有人說 I have no personal feelings about this，是想強調自己只看事實。
