討論跑題、有人開始瞎猜時，用來把話題拉回正題；對上級或長輩別用命令語氣說。

Let's not guess, let's stick to the facts. ／ We should stop speculating and stay with what we know.

Let us not 輕快帶過，facts 放慢加重收尾。

Let us not guess about the budget, but look at the numbers we have. 預算別猜了，還是看我們手上的數字吧。

一個 whether 把意外和滅證擺在同一桿秤上，問得督察無話可答。

is there anything to show whether ... or ...

要逼對方在兩種解釋裡選一個時用；質問朋友私事則顯得像審訊。

Is there any proof of whether it was a slip or done on purpose? ／ Can anything tell us if it was an accident or staged?

whether 前稍停，accident 與 deliberately 一輕一重對比。

Is there anything to show whether the delay was an accident or done on purpose? 有什麼能說明這次延誤是意外還是故意的嗎？

拿一份普通證明扭轉全案，靠的是事實而不是辯解。

正式場合出示書面材料時用；日常朋友間這麼說會顯得太端著。

I have a document here showing that he is a blood donor. ／ Here is a certificate that confirms his blood group.

辯護律師用一句話把“割傷手腕”的舊說法釘在證人面前，這是全場最關鍵的交叉盤問。

盤問或追問時用，把對方以前的說法原樣端出來逼其確認；對長輩或很正式的場合不要用這種緊逼語氣。

Did he not tell you the same thing? ／ Weren't you told the very same story?

Did the prisoner's wife 連讀，show you a knife 稍停，句尾 bread? 升調。

Did the client show you an invoice and tell you that the payment had already been sent? 客戶有沒有給你看過一張發票，還說款已經付了？
