下一章 · 20brought to light揭露出來這場戲：真相揭開後索補償字面是「血肉和骨頭」，形容人是有感情、有弱點、會痛的普通人，不是鐵石心腸。里奧那托說 I will be flesh and blood，就是「我也是個有血有肉的人」，別再勸他忍。
bend 在這裡是「使…朝向、歸到」，整句是「別把傷害都往自己身上攬」。旁人勸里奧那托，別一個人扛下所有痛苦，也要讓害人的人承擔責任。
slandered to death。slander 是「造謠中傷」，to death 表示嚴重到致命。臺詞說 Hero is dead, slandered to death by villains，就是「她死了，是被惡人的謠言害死的」。
a word in your ear。ear 是耳朵，a word in your ear 就是「湊到耳邊說一句」，也就是私下交談。培尼狄克下戰書前，先說 Shall I speak a word in your ear。
discontinue 是「中斷、停止」，company 在這裡是「交往、作伴」。整句是「不再與你來往」，是很正式、很重的斷交話。培尼狄克用它向唐彼得表明決裂。
