the right thing to do，指從道義上就該去做的事。被問為什麼這麼做，說 It's the right thing to do，比 because I want to 體面得多。
字面像在問「你介意告訴我嗎」，其實是很禮貌的請求，比直接說 Tell me 客氣，常帶一點防備或試探。後面接完整的句子即可。
check in on 後面接人，表示「去看看、探望確認情況」，重點是關心對方過得好不好，比如 check in on him from time to time。單純 check 是檢查。
表示關閉水、電、氣，切斷供應，比如 shut the water off。天冷怕水管凍裂，先關掉水閘，就用這個詞。
