州警遇害的車旁，辦案的人蹲下來看雪地：There's different footprints here（這兒的腳印不一樣），又從罰單本上拼出車牌線索。另一邊，綁匪放話不準報警，有人撂下一句 all's I know is（我只知道）——出了問題，就該找專業的人。查線索、講條件，這兩句都用得上。

州警遇害的車停在雪地裡。瑪吉和盧蹲在車旁，先看到兩串不一樣的腳印：There's different footprints here（這兒的腳印不一樣），死者身邊的罰單本上，車牌號那一欄只寫了「DLR」。順著這點，瑪吉推斷兇手開的車掛的是 dealer plates（經銷商牌照），全州開始找一輛車牌以 DLR 開頭的西拉。另一邊，綁匪放話：敢報警就開槍。家裡為要不要找警察吵起來，有人主張 call a professional（找專業的人），有人提醒 they were darn clear on that（他們把話撂得很明白）。查案、轉述威脅、拒絕報警，三句表達正好各用得上。
A1–C2 是歐標等級。點一個等級後，比它高的卡片會變淡，播放到那裡不會自動暫停。

dealer plates。指車行給自家待售車掛的牌照，不用登記到私人名下；瑪吉就是靠它判斷那輛車來自車行。
be mixed up in something。像 You don't think he's mixed up in...，就是「你不會以為他跟這事有關吧」。
「沒對上、沒有匹配」。警察說 They don't got no match yet，是說還沒查到車牌對得上的車；句子裡還用了雙重否定，很口語。
footprints 是複數「腳印」，雪地上不止一個；單數 footprint 只指一個。瑪吉看到的兩串腳印就是 footprints。
