被綁架的妻子生死未卜，丈夫、岳父和顧問圍坐一桌，為要不要報警吵了起來。有人勸韋德別自作聰明，一句 you're just whistling Dixie here（你這是痴人說夢），把話說得很重；也有人攤手說 they call the shots（規矩由他們定，咱們說了不算）。想表達「局面不由我掌控」，這兩句正好一起收。
沒籌碼就只能認 call the shots（說了算）

可以說 bite the bullet。它本來的畫面是咬牙忍痛，現在多指明知難受也得接受。戲裡 we gotta just bite the bullet on this thing 就是「這事只能硬著頭皮認了」，漲房租、加班、賠錢都能用。
hold the cards 是「手裡攥著籌碼」，強調佔上風；call the shots 是「說了算」，強調由誰拍板。戲裡先說手裡沒牌，再說規矩由對方定，正好是同一個被動局面的兩面。
字面是吹一首叫 Dixie 的老曲子，實際意思是「痴人說夢、想得太美」。戲裡 you're just whistling Dixie here 就是「你這是在痴人說夢」，用來潑冷水、說對方想當然。
用 call a professional。戲裡就有人說 I'm saying call a professional，意思是「我是說，去找個專業的人來辦」。看病、打官司、修車拿不準時都能說。
