「不三不四的人」。阿齊茲提醒她 there are bad characters about，就是這一帶有壞人，晚上不該一個人走，用詞比 bad people 更書面。
「變本加厲地、十足地」。一句 is not this the same box with a vengeance，就是那我們豈不是更同病相憐，比前面那句再加一層。
前面剛說河裡有鱷魚、會漂來屍首，莫爾太太說可怕，阿齊茲偏說 what a wonderful river，表面讚美，其實帶著印度式把生死都看進去的意味。
