What happens

What's really going on
The Darknet scene is a bargain with the devil, played for comedy. Spamley is nervous and overpolite, Dan is unsettling and blunt, and the whole visit is built on a warning that only makes the danger more obvious: whatever you do, do not look at his little brother. The deal itself is the film's ethical knot in miniature. One of the visitors insists, "I don't want anyone getting hurt," but the tool he is buying is designed to spread weakness through a program, and Dan's answer makes the loophole plain: the only way anyone gets hurt is if you are stupid. The logic is almost airtight, which is what makes it sinister, and the scene ends by handing him a weapon he promises to keep contained.
