The Madrigals Rebuild Casita, Explained: take after someone
The house is gone and the miracle with it, so the family stops fighting over Gifts and starts rebuilding by hand. What looks like a happy ending is really an apology: "You're more than just your Gift, and I'm sorry I held on too tight." The magic returns only when Mirabel is seen as enough on her own.
What happens
After Casita collapses, the Madrigals and the whole town rebuild the house together. Alma finally tells Mirabel that the miracle was never a Gift but the person herself, Bruno comes home, and Mariano and Dolores admit they love each other. Mirabel places the new doorknob and sees her own reflection.

What's really going on
For most of the film the family's worth has been measured by magic: whoever has a Gift matters, and Mirabel, with none, does not. The finale reverses that. When Alma sings "The miracle is you, not some Gift, just you," she admits the whole system she built was the problem, not her granddaughter. The rebuilt house is less a reward than a new foundation for a family that finally sees each other without the magic. Even the jokes carry the same idea: Bruno is welcomed back with "we're just happy that you're here," and Mariano and Dolores get to be ordinary and happy instead of strategic. Mirabel's last line, "I see me," is the point.

Why does the miracle return only after Casita is rebuilt?
The film frames the miracle as the family itself, not the house. Its magic comes back once Alma admits Mirabel was never the problem and the family rebuilds together — the door opens because they are whole again, not because the house is fixed.
Was Bruno really gone the whole time?
No. Bruno never left the family; he hid in the walls of Casita and stayed close, as Dolores hints when she says she could always hear him. His return is less a homecoming than the family finally admitting he was there.
Are Mariano and Dolores a couple at the end?
Yes. After Mariano's engagement to Isabela falls apart, he and Dolores admit their feelings, and she stops having to hide that she loves him. Their ending is deliberately low-key next to the family's big reconciliation.
