下一章 · 16once and for all一劳永逸这场戏：楼下有动静硬要人去看「对……持怀疑态度」，比 doubt 更书面也更常用来讲态度。台词里 I've always been skeptical about ESP 就是「我一直对超感官知觉持怀疑态度」。
watch out for，比如 watch out for him 就是「当心他」。它比 be careful 更针对具体的人或危险，语气像提醒。
是「和某人一起吃饭」，偏客气、正式的邀请说法。台词里 will you come and take dinner with me sometime 就是「你哪天会来跟我一起吃饭吧」，约会味道很明显。
invite 除了「邀请」，也能说某种东西「招来、引来」结果，invites death 就是「招来死亡」。台词里用它形容房间里那件带着死亡气息的东西。
「这样的感觉」，such 强调程度和种类。台词里 not in many years have I had such a feeling 是「我很多年没这么强烈地感觉到了」，倒装句也值得留意。
