少年犯米克被當面一條條念罪狀，他只會說 It was an accident（那是意外）；對方又甩來 You're a real class act（你可真是個人物），諷刺到底，還說 You would've killed somebody sooner or later（你早晚都得弄死個人），叫他別 bullshit yourself（自欺欺人）。數罪、拆穿藉口、撂狠話，這幾句在爭執裡特別有用。

審問室裡，一個少年犯被當面清點舊賬：工作人員念出他害死一個八歲男孩，他辯解 It was an accident（那是意外），對方冷冷回他 An accident（意外？），又一口氣擺出 Driving a stolen vehicle（駕駛偷來的車）、assault with a deadly weapon（持械傷人）、attempted robbery（搶劫未遂）、breaking and entering（非法入室），諷刺他 You're a real class act（你可真是個人物）。有人直接說 That was no accident（那才不是意外），還斷言 You would've killed somebody sooner or later（你早晚都得弄死個人），讓他別 bullshit yourself（自欺欺人）。可另一段談話裡又有人溫和地說：想聊就聊，or anything else, I'm here（或者別的什麼，我都在）。審問和關照，兩種語氣都用得上。
A1–C2 是歐標等級。點一個等級後，比它高的卡片會變淡，播放到那裡不會自動暫停。
“I see you're responsible for the death of an eight-year-old boy.”
我知道，那場事故里死去的八歲男孩，責任在你。
一句平靜的指控，把最重的後果留在句尾，比喊叫更壓人。
I see you're responsible for (something).
需要冷靜指出對方責任時用；對上級或正式場合也適用，不要當玩笑說。
I see you're behind all this. ／ So you're the one responsible for this.
正式
responsible 重音在第二音節，for 輕讀帶過。
I see you're responsible for the delay on this report. 這份報告拖延，我看責任在你。
“You're a real class act.”
你可真是夠體面的。
把誇獎詞反著用，一句就把對方的惡行釘在牆上。
You're a real (something).
反諷熟人時用；語氣要刻意平靜，對不熟的人別說，容易翻臉。
You're a piece of work. ／ What a gentleman you are.
口語
real 稍拖長，class act 兩詞咬清。
You're a real class act, showing up two hours late. 你可真體面，遲到兩個小時。
“How you never did any time here before is a miracle.”
你居然從沒在這兒坐過牢，簡直是奇蹟。
用主語從句把「奇蹟」扣在對方逃避懲罰上，諷刺又快又狠。
How (someone) never did something is a miracle.
諷刺對方僥倖時用；口語裡常見，正式文書別用。
How he got away with it is a mystery. ／ That you're still free amazes me.
中性
How 起句升調，miracle 重音在首音節。
How you never miss a deadline is a miracle. 你居然從沒誤過截止日期，真是奇蹟。
“And now you're telling me what just happened was an accident?”
現在你是想告訴我，剛才出的事是意外？
把對方的辯解原樣端回去，用一個反問拆穿它。
And now you're telling me (something) was an accident?
當面質疑對方藉口時用；語氣帶刺，對朋友要收著點。
And you expect me to believe that? ／ So that was an accident too?

telling me 連讀，accident 尾音上揚。
And now you're telling me the bill was a mistake? 現在你是想說這筆賬單是弄錯了？

你遲早會殺人的。
用過去推斷句斷定對方的本性，聽上去像結論，不像罵人。
You would've (done something) sooner or later.
下判斷、說一個人本性難改時用；口氣很重，別對親近的人說。
You were bound to do it eventually. ／ It was only a matter of time with you.
中性
would've 讀成 wood-uv，killed 結尾輕收。
You would've crashed sooner or later driving like that. 你那樣開車遲早會撞的。
“Well, when you do have an answer, let me know.”
好吧，等你有了答案，告訴我一聲。
沒有威脅，卻把主動權攥在自己手裡，平靜得讓人無處可退。

不逼對方、卻留後手時用；職場上很常用，語氣保持平和。
Let me know when you're ready to talk. ／ The offer stands whenever you decide.

剛才發生的事，你心裡是什麼感覺？
不問對錯，只問感受，一句就把沉默的人逼到牆角。

想讓人開口、又不想顯得逼問時用；關心和試探都適用。
How are you feeling about all this? ／ What's your take on what happened?

feel about 連讀，went down 尾音下滑。
How do you feel about what went down at the meeting? 會上出的事，你心裡怎麼想？

下一章 · 04get to the bottom of查個水落石出這場戲：審訊室逼問騷亂目擊者字面是「真正的模範人物」，實際是反諷，等於說「你可真是個人物」。臺詞 You're a real class act 就是在對方唸完一長串罪狀後，冷冷地諷刺他。
固定說法是 sooner or later。臺詞 You would've killed somebody sooner or later 就是「你早晚都得弄死個人」，用來說某件壞事註定會發生。
be responsible for 是「對某事負責、是某事的原因」；be responsible to 多指「對某人（上司、老闆）負責」。臺詞 responsible for the death of an eight-year-old boy 就是在指控他造成了孩子的死。
法律裡說 breaking and entering，常指破門或破窗進入別人的房子。臺詞 three counts of breaking and entering at 13 就是「十三歲三項非法闖入」。
意思是「告訴我一聲、通知我」，後面可以接具體內容。臺詞 when you do have an answer, let me know 就是「等你有答案了，告訴我一聲」，語氣比 tell me 客氣。
