馬克拉著比爾談拍片投資，把賬目一筆筆擺出來，對方卻來一句 Doesn't sound very kosher to me（我聽著可不太靠譜）。眼看就要籤，馬克又被告知 This is the last day I can shoot（今天是我最後一天能拍），群演全 fell through（泡湯了）。談錢、催進度都能用這幾句。

馬克要拍《西北》，錢卻得從《女巫團》裡賺：一句 If I don't make money off Coven, how will I make Northwestern?（不靠《女巫團》賺錢怎麼拍《西北》），說的就是 make money back on（把本錢賺回來），目標是把三千份賣出四萬五。他拉比爾把支票開在西北製片名下、每月寄對賬單，比爾卻回一句 Doesn't sound very kosher to me（我聽著可不太靠譜），馬克則強調錢 in your control（全在你掌控）。他還勸人 you gotta assert yourself（給自己撐腰）；等到最後一天開拍，群演又 fell through（泡湯了）。談錢、拉投資、催進度都能用這幾句。

開機在即卻塌了臺，兩句把拍片人的窘境說盡：沒時間，也沒人手。

向人求助前先攤牌處境時能用：先說死線，再點剩下的唯一幫手。

對合夥人表達不放心、點明自己被矇在鼓裡時用；對上級或初合作的人說會顯得太直接，先鋪墊再用。
I have no idea what you're up to. ／ I'm not the one holding the books.
口語
兩個 I don't 都輕讀，the books 放慢重讀，句尾下壓收住。
I don't know what you're doing with the money, and I don't have the accounts. 我不知道你拿這筆錢在幹什麼，賬目也不在我手上。
Coven relates to Northwestern in this sense. If I don't make money off Coven, how will I make Northwestern? I've got to make money back on Coven. So when I did these figures-- 500, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 units, right? I said, "Check this out. Fuck this, man." It's-- I'm sorry for erasing that, but it's 3,000 units for 45 grand. Because if I don't get that 45 grand, I will not be shit. There's no 500 copies, no 1,000, no 2,000. There's fucking 3,000 to be sold... because if I don't get that, I will never be able to make Northwestern.
從這個意義上說，《女巫團》跟《西北》是連著的。 要是靠《女巫團》賺不到錢，我拿什麼去拍《西北》？ 我得靠《女巫團》把錢賺回來。 我算這些數的時候——五百份、一千、兩千、三千份，對吧？ 我說：「你瞧瞧這個。去他媽的，老兄。」 這個——不好意思，我把剛才那行擦了——三千份，賣四萬五。 因為拿不到這四萬五，我就什麼都不是。 沒有什麼五百份，也沒有一千、兩千。 就他媽得賣出三千份…… 因為拿不到這筆錢，我就永遠拍不成《西北》。
下一章 · 06down and out窮困潦倒這場戲：雪地片場談美國夢原本指食物「符合教規」，口語裡引申為「靠譜的、正當的」。比爾說 Doesn't sound very kosher to me，就是「我聽著不太靠譜」，表示他起疑心、不放心。
fell through。計劃、交易、安排沒能成，都可以說 it fell through。馬克說 All extras fell through，就是群演全黃了、一個都沒來。
make money back on，on 後面接靠什麼回本。馬克說自己得 make money back on Coven，就是先靠《女巫團》把投進去的錢賺回來，再去拍《西北》。
assert yourself。意思是別退讓、明確表達自己的立場和存在感。馬克勸人 you gotta assert yourself，就是讓對方拿出底氣來。
in your control。馬克解釋賬戶規則時說 it's in your control，意思是錢動不動、全看你籤不簽字，主動權在你手上。
