對親近的人半開玩笑地拒絕並表示擔心時用；對不熟的人說會顯得像管教。

口語

never 重讀，when you've 連讀，句尾下沉。

I'm never getting in a car with you when you've been up all night. 你熬了一整夜，我絕不坐你的車。

一句話把半輩子的交代說完，省略主語反倒像自言自語。

Bought the ..., gave it to ...

向人交代自己為家人做過什麼、帶點自嘲時用；正式聲明裡別這麼省主語。

I bought it and handed it over. ／ I handed the whole place to him.

口語

Bought 和 gave 重讀，though 輕帶，逗號處各停半拍。

Bought the house, fixed it up, gave it to my sister. 我買了那房子，翻修好，送給了我姐。

用一句反事實的指控收尾，把弟弟的宿命說得無法反駁。

You'd be right there ... if ... , and you know it.

跟熟人攤牌、點破對方老毛病時用；對長輩或同事說就太傷人。

You'd be doing the same thing if he were here. ／ You know that's true.

right there 重讀，if 前提降調，know it 咬住收尾。

用一句冷話來交代難堪的家事時用，熟人之間可以；對剛認識的人說太重，要看時機。

washed away 連讀，fucking storm 加重，句尾放平收住。
