a man possessed。possessed 指「被附身」，a man possessed 就是像被什麼附體一樣不顧一切地拼。形容人埋頭猛幹時很傳神。
意思是「硬著頭皮嚥下食物」。在牆上又累又沒胃口，只能逼自己往下吞，用 gag down 比 eat 更有畫面。
意思是「還是老樣子、照舊再來一遍」，常帶點無奈。片裡說第二天 more of the same, but harder，就是一樣的一天，還更難。
lofty goals。lofty 本指「高聳的」，引申為崇高、宏大的。說某人 set lofty goals，就是立下很大、很有野心的目標。
