旅途中，幾個人在飛船裡討論三個候選星球，說起探險者「幾乎再見不到另一個人類」的孤獨，也爭論大自然算不算邪惡。有人用 rips a gazelle to shreds（把……撕成碎片）打比方，又提到 the best of us（我們中最優秀的人）。想聊理想、孤獨和人性，這些表達都用得上。

兩句都由同一群人來說，第一句評價，第二句排名，把敬意推到最高。它也悄悄埋下伏筆：被捧得越高的人，後面越容易讓人失望。

在團隊裡高度評價某個人時用，語氣真誠。
He is exceptional, the finest among us. ／ Of everyone here, he stands first.

獅子把瞪羚撕成碎片，它就是邪惡的嗎？
用一句反問拆掉「殘酷即邪惡」的等式：自然界的殺戮沒有道德屬性。它把宇宙的冷漠講清楚，也預告了人在其中該怎樣自處。

反駁把自然行為道德化時用，語氣冷靜，適合辯論。

把星球稱作 her，又把「完美」和「再也找不到」並排放在一句裡，一句話就把移民的悲壯說盡了：不是挑更好的，而是隻能接受僅有的。

感嘆某樣東西珍貴又無可替代時用，語氣深情；用來勸人將就則會顯得奇怪。
It's the perfect world, and there is no second one like it. ／ She is flawless, and we will never find her equal.

wasting your breath。戲裡一句 you are literally wasting your breath 就是「你簡直在白費口舌」，用來提醒對方別再說、說了也沒用。
意思是「我們中最優秀的人」。戲裡形容一位同伴 He's the best of us，就是「他是我們之中最棒的」，既誇能力也誇品格，是很高的評價。
catches its breath。戲裡說 a rock it can cling to while it catches its breath，就是「一塊能攀附、好讓自己喘口氣的岩石」，指在漂泊中找個落腳點。
意思是「不動聲色的撲克臉」，指臉上看不出情緒。戲裡一句 But not a poker face 就是「但沒有撲克臉」，調侃對方藏不住心思。
