We should make sequels to more of our movies.This Is the End · 2013 — 第 12 / 27 章 · 3'45" · B2
Once Emma is safely upstairs, the men try to talk about the obvious problem — one woman, six men — and only make it worse. "I'm just trying to lay it out there," one insists, as the attempt to sound harmless turns into an argument no one can win and Emma comes downstairs to catch all of it.
Emma Watson turns up alive after hiding in a drainpipe for days, and the house celebrates. Once she goes upstairs to rest, the men have to confront an awkward fact — one woman and six men under one roof — and their clumsy attempt to talk about it goes badly. It ends when she reappears and says she heard everything.

Danny pins the awful idea on Jay and says it was Jay who raised it first.
What? DANNY: He came up with the rape idea. And his face looks like the police sketch.past continuous: The past continuous sets what the group was in the middle of discussing.
We were specifically talking about not raping you.The comedy here is the gap between intention and effect. The men mean to make Emma feel safe, and the more they talk about it, the worse they sound — one says he doesn't want the group to 'give off a bad vibe,' and the conversation immediately turns into everyone accusing everyone else of being the problem. The joke is that naming the awkwardness creates it: as one of them puts it, nothing was wrong until someone brought up the vibe. By the time it escalates into loud, incriminating jokes and a running argument over who started it, Emma has heard the whole thing from upstairs. Her quiet reappearance turns their claim to be protecting her into the thing she needed protecting from, and their defense — that they were talking about not doing anything — is the least convincing line in the scene.
That's fucked up. Look how tiny she is.The objection to giving Emma the food they don't want: it's mean, and she's small enough that it feels especially unfair.
Guys, listen, listen. I think we need to address the elephant in the room.Jay's opener: he frames the awkward subject as the thing everyone is thinking but no one will name, and asks the group to face it.
I'm just trying to lay it out there. The defense of saying the uncomfortable thing: he insists he is only putting the issue plainly, not accusing anyone.
We were specifically talking about not raping you.The desperate correction after Emma overhears them: they claim the entire argument was about protecting her, not harming her.
Hiding in a drainpipe for several days. She says she stopped hearing people and started hearing growling noises, which fits the zombie theory the others have.
The fact that one woman is now staying in a house with six men. Jay is the one who insists they address it, even though naming it is what makes everything awkward.
Because trying to sound harmless makes them sound worse. They start debating who might be a danger to whom, which is exactly what Emma overhears from upstairs.
That she heard them discussing which of them would get to assault her. The men immediately argue that they were talking about not doing anything — a defense that convinces no one.
