一群人圍在電視前看一部爛片，散場後貝琪把郵箱寫給利普斯基，說好回紐約後可以問她戴夫讀研時的事。等只剩兩人，華萊士直接挑明，說他看見利普斯基 hitting on Betsy（勾搭貝琪），又補一句 I don't want her talking to you（我不想讓她跟你說話）。利普斯基說自己只是想 get involved with（和某人交往）個問稿子的聯絡人，還反唇相譏：你都已經跟一個住在洛杉磯的人在一起了。華萊士沒接這茬，只丟下 Stay away from her（離她遠點）和一句 Be a good guy（做個好人）。想學怎麼當面把不滿說清楚又不失分寸，這段很典型。

表達不想讓某人做某事時能用；對同事別這麼強硬，看場合。

下一章 · 13faux裝出來的這場戲：為裝出來的親民吵翻意思是「向某人示好、勾搭」。華萊士說 of not coming on to her right in front of me，就是「別當著我的面去勾搭她」，比 hit on 更書面一點，語氣也更重。
hate his guts。臺詞裡 I hated his guts so much，就是「我恨死他了」，guts 指內臟，這個說法很強烈，比 I hate him 語氣重得多。
兩個都指「勾搭、示好」。hit on 更口語、更隨便；come on to 稍正式、更像當面糾纏。臺詞裡先出現 hitting on，後面華萊士說 coming on to，說的都是同一件事。
意思是「最根本的罪狀」，常帶點自嘲。臺詞裡說那人的罪狀就是他又酷又受歡迎、而我不是，把小事說得很誇張，很好笑。
a gross exaggeration。臺詞裡 Everything? That seems like a gross exaggeration，就是「全部？這誇張得有點過分了吧」，gross 在這裡是「過分、離譜」。
