記者室裡，莫莉·馬洛伊衝進來，找那幫把她寫成「厄爾女友」的記者算賬。她先一句 You crumbs have been making a fool out of me（把我當傻子耍），再講 Earl 那晚只是坐著聊天，He never once laid a hand on me（他一根手指頭都沒碰過我）。想用英語又狠又委屈地懟人，這兩句很夠用。

可以說 He never once laid a hand on me. 固定搭配 lay a hand on someone 就是「動手碰某人、打人」，多用在保證自己沒動手的場合，語氣比 touch 更重。
這裡 it's a wonder 是「真奇怪」，後面說的是不真實或抱怨的假設，口語裡常照舊式說法用 don't。莫莉在咒記者，意思是「真奇怪，老天怎麼沒把你們全劈死」。
說 I'd tear your face open. 這是很重的威脅，多半是吵架時虛張聲勢。莫莉前面還加一句「要不是怕弄斷我的指甲」，把狠話說得像有分寸，其實更嚇人。
