by the seat of the pants。字面是「靠褲子的屁股部分」，本來形容飛行員靠感覺開飛機，後來泛指沒有把握、全憑經驗和膽量硬來。
human interest，指那種能打動人、有人情味的題材。劇裡為了一條公雞的報道爭起來，一句 That's human interest 就是強調它有人情味、不該撤。
