有人問兩點半那場有哪匹馬，對方卻說「我一說，賠率就得跌」，自己也不肯 bet the house（押上全部家當）。旁邊有人感嘆這世道，被回一句 get used to it（慢慢就習慣了）。轉過頭，一家人又在為要不要搬去澳洲吵得面紅耳赤。賭馬、時局、移民，這些日常說法一次聽全。

一邊是街坊的賭馬閒聊：有人打聽兩點半那場押哪匹馬，對方說「我一說，賠率就得跌」，又趕緊宣告自己不是要 bet the house（押上全部家當）；說起天主教鄰居被迫搬走，一句「這世道真荒唐」換來 get used to it（慢慢就習慣了）。另一邊是家裡的激烈討論：孩子講自己被追、turn the corner（拐過街角）後躲開人，長輩聽得心驚；大人則圍著地圖爭要不要搬去澳洲，一個說「跟去月球差不多」，一個說沒人付得起路費和請假。這些說法覆蓋賭馬、時局和移民：聊賠率、說世道、談搬家都用得上。

拿月球做尺子量距離，誇張得不用解釋，一聽就懂。

might as well 一氣呵成，moon 拖長，後半句壓低。

“There's no one from round here can afford the fare to go down there.”
這附近沒人付得起去那邊的路費。
把宏大的移民夢，落回一張買不起的車票，務實得讓人心酸。

說門檻太高、錢不夠時用；家人朋友間都能說，正式報告裡別用方言詞。

no one 重讀，can afford 連讀，fare 落穩。

wasn't 吞掉 t，joining anything 連讀，belonged to 收輕。
She said she wasn't joining any club her brother belonged to. 她說，她哥哥參加的那個社團，她絕不加入。

get used to it。別人感嘆世道荒唐、日子難過時，用它回一句，意思是別抱怨了，這樣的事以後還多，學著適應。語氣有點無奈又有點認命。
是愛爾蘭說法，等於「把我嚇了一大跳」，字面像「把心橫過來」。片裡孩子突然衝進屋，把正在上廁所的托尼叔叔嚇得鉛筆都掉了。
字面是蘇格蘭的霧，口語裡常用來指「空話、什麼都沒有」。臺詞 And pay for it with what, Scotch mist? 就是在嗆對方：拿什麼付，喝西北風嗎？
bloody。英式口語裡它常當加強語氣的形容詞，You just heard the bloody news 就是「你剛沒聽見那該死的新聞嗎」。日常裡偏粗，正式場合別用。
