一句替失蹤者辯護的話，也替自己保留了信任的餘地。它不解釋理由是什麼，只堅持母親做事必有因果，把「離開」從拋棄改寫成選擇。

替某人的決定辯護、又不想細說時用，語氣剋制；在需要追問真相的場合，也常被拿來回避問題。

She had her reasons, whatever they were. ／ There was a reason behind all of it.

用「為你好」壓人時用，語氣居高臨下；對成年人或平輩說會顯得說教、越界。
