下一章 · 24have a nerve胆子真大这场戏：硬拽回家逼问下午去向是「两性常识、性知识」的委婉说法，正式场合常用，比直接说 sex 含蓄。心理医生问 has anybody instructed Lolita in the facts of life，就是「有没有人给洛丽塔讲过这些」。
get fed up with。fed up 是「吃撑了、受够了」，加上 with 接对象。记录里说她看书看一会儿就 gets fed up with it，就是「看一会儿就烦了」。
cast our minds back。cast 是「投、抛」，把心思往回抛就是「回想过去」。曾普说 But if we cast our minds back，想拉亨伯特一起回忆当年，其实是在套近乎。
refuse to cooperate，名词形式是 refusing to cooperate。曾普问 Do I take it that you are refusing to cooperate，就是「我是不是可以理解为您拒绝配合」，语气像在施压。
repression of the libido。libido 指性本能、欲望，repression 是压制、压抑。曾普用这种心理学术语，说洛丽塔 suffering from acute repression of the libido，显得很专业，其实更像在给调查找理由。
