夏洛特翻到了亨伯特的日记。她一边念，一边发现自己被写成了 The Haze woman（黑兹家的那个女人）、the brainless baba（没脑子的蠢婆娘），于是说 the stupid Haze is no longer your dupe（蠢黑兹再也不会上你的当了）。亨伯特想解释那是小说片段，说名字只是 by mere chance（纯属巧合）写进去的，可她一句 You're a disgusting, despicable, loathsome, criminal fraud（你是个恶心、卑鄙、下流、犯法的骗子）就把话堵死，宣布当天就走。她上楼对着亡夫哈罗德说话，随后一个电话说她被车撞了。
A1–C2 是欧标等级。点一个等级后，比它高的卡片会变淡，播放到那里不会自动暂停。

couldn't help it，指明知不该却还是做了、没法克制。夏洛特说她对不起哈罗德，却 I couldn't help it，就是「可我也控制不住」。
by mere chance。mere 是「只不过」，by mere chance 就是「纯属偶然」。亨伯特说你的名字和洛丽塔的名字都是随手写进去的，用的就是这个说法。
know better next time。know better 是「懂事了、知道不该那样」，next time 是「下次」。这里对亡夫保证下次会找一个更值得的人，用的就是这句。
the soul of integrity。soul 是灵魂、精髓，integrity 是正直、诚实，合起来就是「正直的化身」。夏洛特对着亡夫说 You were the soul of integrity，把他捧得很高，再反衬自己的失望。
