moving about secretly
Took me about a week of sneaking around before I could unload the Pittsburgh stuff.GoodFellas · 1990 — 第 20 / 28 章 · 3'03" · B2
Henry's side business turns into something bigger than anyone planned. He pulls Jimmy and Tommy in, and talk soon moves to a job that would make every earlier score look small: the Lufthansa heist. "I had a down payment on my house and things were really rolling," Henry recalls, right before the ambition gets out of hand.
Fresh out of prison, Henry rebuilds his life by selling drugs on the side, using Sandy's apartment to cut the product and making enough for a down payment on a house. When the operation grows too large for one man, he brings Jimmy and Tommy in. From there the film sets up the Lufthansa heist, the job that will dwarf everything they have done before.

He didn't mean anything by it. That's just the way he was.The scene is about how a small criminal operation becomes a habit, and then a plan for something enormous. Henry talks about his drug money the way a businessman would, and the numbers stay modest until he mentions the house: "I had a down payment on my house and things were really rolling." He is careful, too, to add that Paulie will never find out, which tells you the whole point is keeping it from the people who own his loyalty. Bringing Jimmy and Tommy in is presented as good sense rather than betrayal, and it is the first step toward the Lufthansa job. Morrie's pestering provides the other note: here, a man who keeps asking for his share is a nuisance, and asking too often is its own kind of danger. The sequence ends with ambition, not caution.
But when I did, it was a real score.Selling the Pittsburgh shipment turned out to be a big payoff, worth all the secret dealing.
All I had to do was every once in a while tell Sandy that I loved her.Henry's only cost for using Sandy's place was occasional affection, framing the arrangement coldly.

Because Paulie forbids dealing drugs and would punish anyone in his crew who does it. Henry knows the business is forbidden, which is exactly why his narration insists Paulie will never find out.
A score is a successful haul, a payoff from a crime or a deal. Calling it a real score means it brought in serious money, more than he expected from moving the shipment.
Because it has grown too large for him to run alone. Bringing them in is practical, but it also spreads the risk and sets up the later heist plot.
Because he keeps demanding an advance on money that has not been stolen yet. In a world where patience signals respect, his constant asking marks him as someone who does not know his place.
