「Jafar Exposes Aladdin」を読み解く

What's really going on

The mask comes off on both sides here. Aladdin's lie was a disguise; Jafar's was obedience, and once he has power he says what he has always meant: "you are no longer of any use to me." Everyone around him was a tool, and now they are disposable. The scene also turns Aladdin's own trick against him — "He's been pretending the entire time" — so the boy who faked a throne loses it to a man who faked loyalty. Jafar's cruelty is methodical, aimed less at killing than at humiliating: he makes the Sultan watch "while I take what you love most." It's a reminder that power doesn't just punish; it stages the punishment.

Theme

PowerJafar turns a wish into absolute power and instantly reorders everyone around him from tools to targets.
RevengeYears of being told to remember his place come back as deliberate, theatrical cruelty.

発音のポイント

  • If it isn't — liaison
  • make it stop — flap
  • out of here — flap
He's been pretending the entire time.

Jafar frames Aladdin's whole prince act as a con, turning the earlier lie into public evidence.

I could simply kill you all.

A threat he rejects, because plain murder would be too quick — the cruelty is the point.

No, what you need, Baba, is to suffer.

Jafar tells the man who raised him that suffering, not death, is what he deserves.

She will never marry you.

Jasmine's flat refusal, the one line that still defies him even with everything in his power.

He's nothing but a lying thief.

The public label Jafar pins on Aladdin, erasing the prince and reducing him to the street kid.

you are no longer of any use to me.

The line that shows how Jafar sees people: useful while they serve him, discarded the moment they don't.

このシーンについての質問

How does Jafar get his power?

He uses his wish to become the most powerful sorcerer there is, which is what lets him take over the palace and bend everyone to his will.

What happens to Aladdin in this scene?

He's exposed as an impostor and banished to the ends of the earth, after Jafar tells the court there is no Prince Ali.

Why does Jafar spare the Sultan instead of killing him?

Because a quick death isn't punishment enough. He makes the Sultan watch him take what he loves most, which is crueler than simply killing him.

What does "forget yourself" mean?

It means forgetting your place or getting above yourself. Jafar quotes the old rebukes — "Remember your place" and "You forget yourself" — before turning them back on the Sultan.
