Aladdin Shares His Rooftop Home, Explained:Come and go as we please
Two strangers on a rooftop aren't just flirting. "Come and go as we please" is Aladdin's pride in a life nobody owns, and she quietly answers with a life she can't leave. Under the talk of bracelets and silk is a shared ache: both lost their parents, both feel trapped by where they were born.
あらすじ
Aladdin brings a girl up to the rooftop he calls home and, from her bracelet and imported silk, works out that she serves the princess in the palace. They talk: about coming and going as they please, about the song their mothers taught them, and about feeling trapped by the life they were born into. Then she has to return to the palace.

What's really going on
On the surface this is a charming rooftop meet-cute: a street thief guessing a girl's rank from her jewelry, the two of them bonding over a song. But the scene keeps turning toward what each of them can't escape. "Come and go as we please" sounds like freedom until she answers with "They won't let her," describing a princess locked away since the queen was killed. The line about the people having "nothing to do with that" is a first real glimpse of the injustice under the palace walls. When she admits she feels trapped and he asks, "Like you can't escape what you were born into?" the gap between them shrinks: the thief and the handmaid share the same sentence, just different cages. The ease of the rooftop - tea, songs, a view of the city - is exactly what the rest of the story is fighting to keep.

Just me and Abu. Come and go as we please. He's showing off the one luxury a street kid has: a home with no rules, where nobody tells him when to stay or go.
You are quite the magician.A playful compliment dressed as a fact: the guess about her being from the palace was clever, and she says so with a smile.
But the people of Agrabah had nothing to do with that.He refuses to let the city be blamed for the queen's death, separating ordinary people from the crime that frightened the palace.
Like you can't escape what you were born into?He names the fear exactly: that your birth decides your whole life, whether you're a thief or a handmaid.
It's all I remember of her.The song is the only thing left of his mother. Saying it plainly, without self-pity, is what makes the moment land.
このシーンについての質問
How does Aladdin figure out that she's from the palace?
He spots her bracelet, which only palace money could buy, and the imported silk lining of her clothes - details most servants wouldn't have.
Why does she say she feels trapped?
She's a handmaid kept inside the palace walls; since the queen was killed, the sultan has kept the princess and everyone around her shut away, so she can't leave.
Do Aladdin and the girl already know each other?
No. They've just met after he helps her escape a chase, and the rooftop is where they start trading stories instead of insults.
Is the rooftop scene romantic?
It leans that way. The two share songs and loss, and by the end neither wants her to go back, though she says she has to return to the palace.
