萊斯特帶著西爾維婭和珍妮來到格特魯德家，說巡演九月底才結束，孩子沒人照看。格特魯德一邊處理 all out of（用光了）牛奶、賒賬這些家事，一邊提出 Why don't you leave Sylvia and Jenny, here with me?（不如把她們留在我這兒），還說 I got six kids, two more wont make a difference（再多倆也沒差），開價 20 dollars a week（一週二十美元）。萊斯特嘴上說 couldn't do that（幹不出這種事），最後還是把孩子留下，答應 I will be back, and get you girls then（到時候我就回來接你們）。後來法庭上，檢察官追問他為什麼 willing to（願意）把孩子交給一個陌生人。想學怎麼談寄養、給承諾、被追問責任，這幾段很夠用。

把人情明碼標價，卻句句像替你著想，軟話裡藏著交易。

談長期費用、想把條件說得體貼時用；純粹無償幫忙的場合別把價錢掛嘴邊。

在 dollars 和 worry 上加重，a week 連讀。

一句反問把信任翻成失職，重音落在 willing，是法庭上最鋒利的問法。

想點出對方當初主動做的選擇時用；對親友這樣質問太重，別輕易用。
But you chose to hand them over to someone you barely knew? ／ Yet you agreed to leave them with a total stranger?

willing 和 stranger 重讀，句尾升調反問。
But you were willing to sign it without reading the terms? 可你連條款都沒看就願意籤？

臨別一句承諾，把暫時寄放釘成一定會回來，越輕越讓人心酸。

向人保證會回來、會兌現承諾時用；做不到就不要輕易說 promise。

重音在 promise 和 back，then 輕輕收尾。
