基地里，曼德雷克求里珀趁早 recall the wing（召回飞行联队），里珀却顾左右而言他，念叨 Water on the back of the neck（后脖颈拍点水），又说自己迟早要 answer for（为做过的事负责）。曼德雷克只能一边顺着哄，一边想办法把召回密码套出来。想学怎么在压力下周旋，这几句很实用。

伯普尔森空军基地里，曼德雷克恳求里珀趁还来得及召回飞行联队，别让核弹飞出去。里珀却绕开正题：他念叨那些飞行员就像自己的孩子，如今辜负了他；又扯到自己相信来世，迟早要 answer for（为做过的事负责）；还坚持自己喝了很多水，体液一点问题都没有，甚至提到 Water on the back of the neck（后脖颈拍点水）。曼德雷克一边顺着他的话安抚，一边想套出召回密码，最后提议玩个猜谜游戏。想学怎么软化对方、怎么承担责任、怎么谈身体和健康，这几句都很实用。
A1–C2 是欧标等级。点一个等级后，比它高的卡片会变淡，播放到那里不会自动暂停。

那些小伙子就像我的孩子，曼德雷克。
一句把占有欲说成父爱，越温情越显出控制欲。

对亲近的后辈表达偏爱时用；正式场合用会显得矫情。

把酷刑轻描淡写成找乐子，结尾一个骂词把宽容翻成恨意。

用一句生活小窍门劝人，越家常越衬出正在逼供。

推荐某个小动作让人舒服时用；口语里 marvelous 有点夸张。

下一章 · 14evasive action规避动作这场戏：轰炸机躲导弹意思是「辜负、让某人失望」。里珀说那些飞行员 Now they let me down，就是觉得他们让自己失望了。你也可以说 I won't let you down，我不会让你失望。
用 stand up under，后面接压力或折磨，比如 stand up under torture。曼德雷克说自己不知道能不能撑住，就是 I don't know how well I could stand up under torture。
going-over 指「一顿狠揍或训斥」。里珀说外面的人要给他 a pretty good going-over for the code，就是为了密码要狠狠收拾他一顿。
answer for 指「为某事负责、受问责」，常用在 answer for what I've done 这样的说法里。里珀说自己相信来世，知道终有一天要为自己的所作所为负责。
prisoner of war 就是「战俘」，缩写是 POW，指战争中被敌方俘虏的军人。里珀问曼德雷克有没有当过战俘，是想套他的话。
