表示「要么……要么……」，连接两个选项。台词 The dog either gets inside the cage, or he's not getting on the plane 就是「狗要么进笼子，要么就别上飞机」，语气很硬。
表示「一……就……」，强调紧接着发生。台词 waiting for you the second you get off 就是「你一落地我就等着」。比 as soon as 更口语、更有画面。
可以说 another mouth to feed，形象地表示家里又多一个要养的人或动物。台词 We have another mouth to feed 就是「我们又要多养一张嘴了」，这里其实在暗示怀孕。
意思是「以防、万一」，后面接可能发生的情况。台词 In case you needed some good news 就是「万一你需要点好消息」，说话人把好消息藏着，就等这个时刻。
