戴維受傷臥床，哥哥萊納斯上門探病，送上一張自己設計的塑膠吊床。戴維拜託他幫我照看著點薩布麗娜，用 keep an eye on someone（照看、盯住）把話說得又軟又客氣；萊納斯滿口答應，其實早就打算自己帶薩布麗娜出海。想學怎麼用客氣話求人、又怎麼聽出話裡的深意，這段最耐看。

戴維因為在口袋裡塞了香檳杯摔傷，縫了二十三針，躺在床上養傷。哥哥萊納斯來探病，送他一張帶活動翻板的塑膠吊床，還說是今早專門為他開工趕出來的。戴維很感動，說 What a brother（真是個好哥哥），接著請萊納斯幫忙：I know how these things bore you, but would you mind keeping an eye on Sabrina for me?（我知道這事無聊，可你能不能幫我照看她）。萊納斯說他早就想到了，下午就帶薩布麗娜去出海。戴維這才說出真心話：I was blind, that's why. It's been Sabrina and I since we were kids.（我瞎了眼，我跟薩布麗娜從小就認識），還說自己老是 see her for the tree（見樹不見林）。想學求人、推心置腹、以及話說三分留七分，這段最典型。
A1–C2 是歐標等級。點一個等級後，比它高的卡片會變淡，播放到那裡不會自動暫停。

上一句剛誇他像個男人，這一句就把後半截補成笑話，落差全在 sat down 上。

看似叮囑傷情，其實是下了道命令，把看管說得像關心。

用關心的口氣下禁令時用；戀愛或談判裡這樣說會顯得控制慾重。

下一章 · 11blot out抹掉這場戲：出海聽老歌聊心事「照看、盯住某人」，留意別讓他出事。比如 Can you keep an eye on my bag?（你能幫我看一下包嗎）。語氣很客氣，適合拜託別人。
最接近的是 can't see the forest for the trees，表示只看細節、看不到全域性。劇裡說 couldn't see her for the tree，意思是天天在她身邊，反而一直沒看見她。
make up your mind。比如你拿定主意了嗎：Have you made up your mind? 劇裡說 You've already made up your mind.（你已經拿定主意了）。
意思是「出錯的舉動、走錯的棋子」，常和 no 連用，比如 One false move and we're ruined.（一步走錯就全完了）。醫生叮囑、下棋、諜戰裡都愛用，帶點緊張感。
看語氣。這裡「真是個好哥哥」表面是誇，其實帶著幾分無奈和反諷——戴維一邊感動，一邊也知道這哥哥管得太多。
