Puss, watch out!「The Map Goes Missing」を読み解く
What's really going on
The scene is a heist comedy that turns into a blame game. The gang's chant and the plan to guard the rear are played for laughs, because the raid is over before it starts — the prize is already gone. The line "Somebody took it" is the spark, and the response, "You criming us when we just crimed you?", shows the film's rule that thieves are only loyal to the job. What follows is slapstick: everyone fights everyone, and the one member who was left behind is the one who gets caught. The chapter's real joke is that a team built on a placeholder name and a promise to share the wish falls apart the moment the wish is missing.
Theme
TrustThe crew turns on one another the moment the map disappears, showing how thin their alliance is.
BetrayalThe thieves suspect a double-cross, and each side accuses the other of taking the map.
