将军正泡在蒸汽室里，一队年轻军官冲进来把他当俘虏抓了。这本来是 Army exercise（军事演习），只是有人提前动手，连 show me the way（带路）的兵都省了。将军抗议：starts at midnight（午夜开战），凭什么在宣战前抓人？对方回一句 on what authority（凭什么权力），还讲一句 keep to the rules（守规矩），敌人却一直踹我们。将军要 Put 'em up（动手），对方却回一句 my foot（才怪）。my foot 是「才怪、去你的」，用来否定对方；beg your pardon 是没听清或不悦时说的「您说什么」；no time to waste 是没工夫耽搁。看英式军人的对呛，这几句最典型。

说 keep to the rules，意思是按规矩来、不越界。剧中抱怨我们老老实实守规矩，对方却总在背后使坏。
