《後窗》開場是一通電話：攝影師傑夫還打著石膏，主編岡尼森打來，本想恭喜他拆石膏，結果發現記錯了周。岡尼森提到雜誌社要派人去克什米爾，那地方 The place is about to go up in smoke（那地方馬上就要打起來了），可他不肯派帶傷的傑夫，改派摩根或者蘭伯特。傑夫不服，抱怨 I get myself half-killed for you（我為你差點把命搭上），又放話 If you don't pull me out of this swamp of boredom, I'm gonna do something drastic（你要是不把我從這無聊的爛泥潭裡拉出來，我就幹出點出格的事）。兩人從拆石膏一路吵到結婚，傑夫甚至說 I'm gonna get married（我要結婚）。想學職場鬥嘴、抱怨和放狠話，這通電話很完整。
A1–C2 是歐標等級。點一個等級後，比它高的卡片會變淡，播放到那裡不會自動暫停。

get rid of。比如 get rid of that cast 就是「把那副石膏拆掉、擺脫它」，扔東西、改掉壞習慣都能用。
不是「殺了一半」，而是誇張說法，意思是「差點把命搭上」。I get myself half-killed for you 就是「我為你差點把命搭上」。
意思是「古板、一本正經、端著」。Stop sounding stuffy 就是「別一副老古板的腔調」，多用來嫌對方太嚴肅。
the next time，也可以說 next time。臺詞 have some good news the next time 就是「下次打電話最好帶點好訊息」。
