小玉米餅的旁白一開口就說 We got the prettiest place on earth（我們這兒可是世上最美的地方），一句 They built the wall that cuts us off（他們築起高牆，把我們隔在外面）——cut off 就是「隔絕、切斷往來」；可這裡的人偏不服，But we ain't going nowhere（可我們哪兒也不去）。想學又土又倔的美式口語，這幾句最地道。

開場是小玉米餅的旁白。鏡頭掠過被水環抱的家園「浴缸」，她說 We got the prettiest place on earth（我們這兒可是世上最美的地方）；on earth 就是「世上、天底下」，誇一樣東西好到沒邊時最常用。可爸爸溫克卻指著對岸說 Ain't that ugly over there（你看那邊，多難看）。接著她說 They built the wall that cuts us off（他們築起高牆，把我們隔在外面），cut off 是「隔絕、切斷往來」，被牆、被距離隔開都能用。這裡的人明明隨時可能被水淹沒，卻偏要留下：But we ain't going nowhere（可我們哪兒也不去），用雙重否定把「哪兒也不去」說得又倔又帶勁。她還說，總有一天暴風雨會把一切都變成水。適合學美式口語的誇張和倔強。

可以說 cuts us off。旁白裡說 They built the wall that cuts us off，就是「他們築起高牆，把我們隔在外面」。cut off 也能指電話被切斷、供給被切斷。
可以用 ain't going nowhere。But we ain't going nowhere 字面像雙重否定，實際就是「可我們哪兒也不去」，語氣又倔又強硬，是口語裡的說法。
ain't 是口語裡的非正式寫法，相當於 am not is not are not，常見於美國南方和黑人英語。日常正式場合別用，但看懂電影、聽懂歌曲很需要。
說 a bunch of babies。旁白說 they're afraid of the water like a bunch of babies，就是「他們怕水，活像一群沒斷奶的娃娃」，帶點看不起的調侃。
意思是「卡在……裡出不來」。They got their babies stuck in carriages 就是「他們的娃娃都困在嬰兒車裡」；堵在路上、卡在某個處境也可以用。
