塔克和戴尔在湖上听到呼救，划船把溺水的艾莉森捞上来、抬进船；另一边，她的朋友们看见「乡巴佬」把人带走，大喊 They got Allison（他们抓了艾莉森），撒腿就跑。塔克懵了：We got your friend（你们朋友在我们这儿），Why the hell are they running away（他们跑什么）。想学怎么演误会、怎么互损，这段全是笑点。

hopeless。You are hopeless 就是「你没救了」，吐槽朋友做蠢事时常用，语气多半是无奈而不是真骂人。
指「乡巴佬、山里人」，原本是带贬义的称呼。片里大学生就这样叫塔克和戴尔，也加深了两边的误会。
意思是「你怎么回事、出什么毛病」，用来质问或关心对方状态。What's the matter with you? 就是「你到底怎么了？」
yell out。yell 是大声喊，out 强调喊出声，比如 yell out my name 就是「大声喊我的名字」。
