用双重委婉试探一个可怕的可能，既留了余地又逼人正面回答。

把重话说轻、试探敏感问题时用；正式问询里常见这种绕法。

Was it possible 快问，might have been 连读，not accidental 重读。
Was it possible that the fire might have been set on purpose? 那场火有没有可能是有人故意放的？
下一章 · 09upside down弄反了这场戏：审问安娜追问哈宾下落指被车轧过、撞倒。原句 He was run over by a car，就是「他是被车撞的」，是被动语态，常用来描述车祸。
说 keep something to yourself，指把某件事瞒住、不告诉别人。原句 keep this passport to yourself，就是「这份护照你先别声张」。
说 not necessarily，用来软化或否定前面的判断。原句 Mmm, not necessarily，就是「不一定、未必」，语气很轻。
