风声一出，几个人开始互相猜：上上票活儿就混进过一个 undercover cop（卧底警察），这次是谁？有人点 Joe 的名，有人回一句 For all I know, you're the rat（说不定你就是内鬼）。可有人护着里面中枪的小子，说别叫他内鬼。想学互相猜疑、撇清关系、护着人的英语，这段最带劲。

行动砸了之后，几个人开始互相猜到底谁走漏了风声。有人提起上上票活儿：那次队里混进过一个 undercover cop（卧底警察），还好 discovered in time（及时发现），只能把整件事丢下。这次轮到谁？有人点蓝先生、棕先生，甚至 Joe 的名；被怀疑的人也不客气，一句 For all I know, you're the rat（说不定你就是内鬼）就顶回去。可有人护着里屋中枪的小子，说亲眼看他挨了枪，别管他叫内鬼。话题一转，有人问洗手间怎么走，又聊起 Alabama：他们一起干过几票，后来 call it quits（散伙），如今她 hooked up with（跟）别人好上了。想学猜疑、互呛、闲扯的英语，这段最像真江湖。

把猜疑原样奉还，一句话让替人打包票的人自己站上了被告席。

说自己不能断定、留有余地时用，熟人争论里最自然；正式结论里别这么含糊。

口语
For all I know 快读，you're the rat 逐词加重。
For all I know, the package was never sent. 说不定那包裹根本没寄出去。
“I can say I didn't do it cause I know what I did or didn't do, but I cannot say that about anybody else, cause I don't definitely know.”
我能说自己没干，因为我清楚自己做了什么、没做什么；可我没法替别人这么说，因为我不确定。
用自己知道和不知道划清界线，是一段极冷静的自我辩护。

只肯为自己作证、不替别人担保时用，讲事实的场合很合适；随口聊天会显生硬。

can 和 cannot 对比重读，cause 前后各停半拍。

把一段搭档情用一句轻描淡写收掉，越是平常越显江湖。

说合作、感情或生意结束后不再继续时用，熟人之间最自然；正式文里偏口语。

that kid in there 连读，don't you be 重读，a rat 收尾降调。

一句陈述把危险说穿，team 与 undercover cop 的反差就是全部张力。

讲团队里发现伪装身份的人时用；正式报告也可用，但内容要换成中性词。

discovered 后微停，undercover cop 两词都重。
We discovered one of the crew was working for a rival firm. 我们发现团队里有一个人在替对手公司做事。
下一章 · 09on the up-and-up为人正派这场戏：复盘劫案并决定送医quit 是「停止、退出」，call it quits 就是「就此收手、散伙」。多用来指合作或搭档关系结束，也可以说两个人决定不干了。台词里就用来讲一对搭档散伙。
undercover 是「秘密的、卧底身份的」，cop 是警察，合起来就是「卧底警察」。台词里说队里混进过一个 undercover cop，就是「队伍里有一个是卧底」。
have nothing to do with。do with 在这里是「与……有关」，加上 nothing 就是「毫无关系」。台词里说乔跟这件破事毫无关系，用的就是这个说法。
字面是「就我所知道的一切而言」，实际常用来表示「说不定、我也说不好」，暗示自己掌握的信息有限。台词里说 For all I know, you're the rat，就是「说不定你就是内鬼」。
hook up with someone 在口语里常指「跟某人好上、搭上关系」，可以指谈恋爱，也可以指临时在一起。台词里说她 hooked up with 一个叫麦加尔的人。
