will be brutal here bitch means a rough thing, not a person
Just made it. It's really going to be a bitch.Deathtrap · 1982 — 第 27 / 30 章 · 3'01" · B1
A rehearsal of the play's final scene becomes the real thing. As the two men work out the ax and the gun, Sidney keeps the acting lesson going - then turns it: "We're going to say goodbye." The gun, he says, is now loaded with live bullets, and he finally admits why.
Sidney and Clifford rehearse the last scene of their play: the detective corners Julian, Julian snaps and shoots, then grabs a weapon to finish him off. They test every move, ax in hand, working out what looks natural. Then Sidney tells Clifford to stand still - the rehearsal is over, and the weapon is loaded with real bullets.

I just can't have the play written, Cliff.causative have: Have something done means having an action carried out, or here, refusing to let it happen.
I just can't have the play written, Cliff. On the surface it's a working session - two collaborators fixing a staged fight. Underneath, Sidney is deciding something. He keeps the rehearsal useful as long as it is useful to him, using the play's logic to put Clifford exactly where he wants him: one arm out of commission, a weapon in reach. The turn is spoken almost gently: "We're going to say goodbye." Then the stage prop is revealed to be real - "I loaded it myself last night" - and the play is no longer a play. The darkest joke is that the acting advice is sincere; it just applies to a role Clifford never expected to play for real.
I just can't have the play written, Cliff. The real reason for everything: Sidney won't let Clifford finish the play, and he says it while holding a loaded weapon. It's a confession disguised as a line.
Just made it. It's really going to be a bitch. He barely arrived in time, and the work ahead will be brutal. A casual opener that hides how much is riding on this rehearsal.
And the answer has to be no. So let's try it.The staged logic says a one-armed man can't stop a two-armed one - so they'll test it on their feet rather than argue about it.
Don't you remember the seminar? When in doubt, physicalize.A callback to a writing class: when you're unsure how a scene should work, act it out physically. Here the advice becomes literally dangerous.
He says they need to test whether the action works on its feet - can a one-armed inspector stop a two-armed playwright? Working it out physically also lets him place Clifford exactly where he wants him.
The shift comes when Sidney tells Clifford to stand very still and says, "We're going to say goodbye." From there the talk of live bullets makes clear the scene is now real.
Sidney says he loaded it himself the night before, so the bullets were there before the rehearsal began. The practice session was the setup, not an accident.
It's advice from a writing seminar: when a scene is unclear, act it out with your body instead of talking it to death. Sidney quotes it as a lesson - and uses it as a weapon.
Only at the end. He treats the session as normal work, correcting his position and complaining about what feels natural, right up to the moment Sidney tells him to stand still and stops pretending.
