A friend tells Guy the game will shut down for good and everyone like him will vanish, and Guy has to sit with the idea that he may not be real. "Well, I may not be real, but, for a second there, I felt pretty alive," he says, and the moment lands harder than any punchline.

What's really going on
The scene takes the film's joke and turns it serious. Guy has just been told that his whole world will disappear "for good," and his answer is not to argue about the facts but to name a feeling: "Well, I may not be real, but, for a second there, I felt pretty alive." That distinction — real versus alive — is the film's real question. Buddy's reply pushes it further, insisting, "Right here, right now, this moment is real," and arguing that helping someone you love is the most real thing there is.
