下一章 · 08the way I figure it依我看这场戏：被逼跳河才说不会游泳字面是「两毛五的」，引申成「不值钱的、末流的」。对方骂 Butch 和 Sundance 是 two-bit outlaws，不是骂他们穷，而是说他们名气再大，在别人眼里也只是不入流的逃犯。
enlist。它专指「入伍、参军」，比 join the army 更正式、更简短。戏里对方说 take you into the army 是你们一开始就想要的，用的就是 in the first place（一开始）。
因为两人是全国通缉的逃犯，就算想参军，政府也会先清算旧账。对方的意思是：你们别做梦了，光凭以前的抢劫案，每人蹲一千年牢都够了。这句也是他劝他们别自投罗网的狠话。
是「太晚了」，但指的是「你们已经没机会了」。对方是在宣判：金盆洗手、改过自新的窗口已经关上，你们的时代结束了，接下来只能选择死在哪儿。
