巴黎的厨艺课上，老师一边演示一边说 It is all in the wrist（全靠手腕），敲鸡蛋像上断头台一样要干脆。镜头一转，莱纳斯读着萨布丽娜寄回家的信，句句追问 What about David?（那戴维呢）。想学地道又带劲的英语，这两句就够用。

一句话里「戴维」出现两次，追问的急切藏都藏不住。

两处 David 都重读，第二问句尾略降，带点不甘。

两个 is not 都要重读，wood 收在降调。

What about David? 这个句型可以套用，问「那某人呢／那某件事呢」，把 what about 后面换成想追问的人或事就行，例如 What about your job?（那你的工作呢）。
意思一样，都是「谢天谢地」。thank goodness 更温和客气，适合不太熟的场合；thank God 更随意、情绪更重，两个都常用来表示总算松了口气。
just about killed me。just about 等于「几乎、差点」，比如这活儿差点累死我：This job just about killed me. 用来夸张地说某件事把你折腾得够呛。
Where are you off to? 就是问「你要上哪儿去？」，be off to 加地点表示正要去某处，比如 I'm off to Paris（我要去巴黎了）。口语里很常见。
